Scan a barcode
A bag with no car name? Scan its barcode, or type the part number printed on it. Hobbydex shows the parts with that code or number, which cars they fit and which releases contain them.
Hold the barcode or the part number inside the picture. It is read as soon as it is in focus.
How it works
- A handheld scanner types the code and then Enter, like a keyboard. On a computer the box has the focus, ready for it.
- The camera reads EAN-13 (JAN too), UPC-A, EAN-8, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39 and QR codes. Chrome on Android and desktop use the browser's own reader; elsewhere, Safari on iPhone included, the button loads a small reader from jsdelivr.net the first time it is pressed.
- A typed or scanned number is looked up as a barcode first, then as a printed part number, across all brands.
- The lookup loads small index files from hobbydex.com. Their names carry some digits of the code, or a hash of the number, never the whole code, and no photo or typed text is sent.
A code or number that is not in Hobbydex yet is shown as typed, so a missing record can be reported.
